WATER QUALITY ANALYSIS OF CODE RIVER BASED ON METAL AND NONMETAL PARAMETERS USING HEAVY METAL POLLUTION INDEX

چکیده
Code is one of the rivers influenced by a large number waste-generating human activities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Despite continued discharges pollution loads from anthropogenic waste, heavy metal index (HPI)—a water quality assessing ions present body water—remains nationally underutilized. The research was intended to 1) analyze river based on and nonmetal parameters typical domestic 2) calculate HPI using either both parameters, 3) evaluate resultant status. data were products temporal monitoring conducted Forestry Environmental Office for Yogyakarta. included Fe, Cu, Cd, Cr, Pb, while BOD, COD, TSS, ammonia, oil grease, total coliforms. Each parameter value compared with standard issued Governor Regulation No. 20/2008. results showed that composite classified as excellent (2.52), whereas representing indicated bad (55.04). Nevertheless, composed all fell into category (3.94). Consequently, when are combined calculation, shows better status. Keywords: (Heavy Metal Pollution Index) quality, metal, Yogyakarta

Introduction: Inappropriate management of mining activities may bring about water pollution and pose a heavy complication on aquatic ecosystem and humans. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of Qorveh gold mining activities on the quality of nearby groundwater. Materials and Methods: The concentration of seven eco-toxic metals along with some general hydrochemical parameters were investigat...
متن کاملEvaluation of Some Physiochemical Parameters and Heavy Metal Contamination in Hara Biosphere Reserve, Iran, Using a New Pollution Index Approach
Background: The pollution of the aquatic environment with heavy metals has become a worldwide problem during recent years, due to their potential toxic effects and ability to bio-accumulate in aquatic ecosystems. Heavy metals are sensitive indicators for monitoring changes in the aquatic environment. Methods: In this study, total concentrations of Cr, Pb, Cu, Zn, and Fe were measured in water...

The contamination of riverbed sediments by heavy metals has assumedserious problems due to their toxicity and accumulative behavior. The present studyinvestigated the concentrations of heavy metals from the bottom sediments of ShitalakhyaRiver to understand the level of contamination and their distribution. The averageconcentrations of heavy metals Al, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, As, Cu, Co, Cr, and Zn are ...
